Meeting notes

Readout from IPTC Provenance Summit

🎥 11'45": MEAN task force (music, entertainment, advertising, and news) made a very definitive statement that C2PA alone is insufficient for the creative community, and that you must implement CAWG and C2PA together to make effective use of C2PA. This statement was well-received at the conference.

New members introduction

  • 🎥 14'16": Eric Osterweil, Verisign

  • 🎥 14'50": Burt Kaliski, Verisign

ACTION (✅): Charlie and Eric to meet to further discuss this issue and how to move to a concrete proposal. → DONE

ACTION (determined during above meeting): Eric to draft a new cawg.actions assertion spec. → NOT DONE

ACTION: Interested CAWG Working Group members, please review the Agentic AI Working Group’s delegation report and use case repository in preparation for a focused session on delegation and potential joint use case development. TAAWG would welcome CAWG members joining with specific use cases.

Readout from trust task force: Scott

🎥 17'05": Trust TF is developing a governance-backed metadata assertion. Key quote:

We have many different governing authorities that have interest into overseeing the use of certain assertions, made over certain pieces of data, or certain assertions made for an industry. [There are] industry groups, and they have, you know, governance and jurisdictions around the use of making certain claims.

Readout from VC/VP task force: Andrew

🎥 30'25": VC/VP TF discussed possible need/desire to have a time stamp for VC signature that is separate from the C2PA claim generator’s time stamp signature.

Also working on how to get data from the signer paylod into the credential and/or presentation.

🎥 38'14": Consent TF is focusing on describing three kinds of consent:

  • asset creation (largely covered already by C2PA)

  • identity (of creators? of subjects depicted?)

  • use of content (purpose)

Sorting out boundaries between consent TF and the IP rights work being done at JPEG Trust.

Erik published an initial spec for consent assertion and invites review.
