Meeting notes

Review metadata issue #13: Add CAWG inception actions

🎥 11'45": Charlie introduced metadata assertion issue #13: Add our own version of c2pa "inception" actions to allow CAWG signers to specify provenance. The key request here is to enable users to make provenance attestations when using open-source or other tools that can not make the kinds of secure-execution-environment claims necessary for C2PA conformance. This would be achieved by having some form of CAWG-provided provenance attestation endorsed by a CAWG identity assertion and a minimal C2PA-conformant claim generator which would include only a c2pa.opened inception action, stating that (from a C2PA perspective) that the asset existed at this point of time, without itself taking responsibility for any claims about how that asset was produced.

Group explored the idea of a CAWG actions assertion.

ACTION (✅): Charlie and Eric to meet to further discuss this issue and how to move to a concrete proposal.

ACTION (determined during above meeting): Eric to draft a new cawg.actions assertion spec.

🎥 45'54": Proposal to create a task force for documenting consent of people depicted in an asset.

ACTION: Erik Passoja to work with Juan and Grace-zel to create task force meetings.

ACTION: Interested CAWG Working Group members, please review the Agentic AI Working Group’s delegation report and use case repository in preparation for a focused session on delegation and potential joint use case development. TAAWG would welcome CAWG members joining with specific use cases.

Eric reminds that when we’re talking about delegation, we should also consider human-to-human delegation (i.e. staff working on behalf of a major recording artist).

Review of VC/VP task force

🎥 1h01'52": Andrew gave a review of last week’s VC/VP task force, which was mostly focused on reviewing existing issues that had been assigned to the group.

ACTION: Eric working with Drummond on a possible co-chair.

Overview of pending legislation

🎥 1h01'52": Erik Passoja provided an overview of legislation pending in several countries and states that relate to AI transparency and copyright labeling.
