Review previous action items

πŸŽ₯ 6'17": Reviewed action items from previous meeting 26 January 2026:

  • ACTION: Eric to withdraw metadata PR #10: Avoid duplication of information between identity and metadata assertions. → βœ… DONE

  • ACTION: Eric to draft a new metadata PR to explicitly explicitly encourage the use of self#jumbf references as shown in Leonard’s presentation. → βœ… DONE (will discuss later)

  • ACTION: Eric to convert notes placed in issues to milestones assigned to the various task forces that are spinning up. → βœ… DONE (will discuss later)

Checking in on task force formation

πŸŽ₯ 7'24": I haven’t heard meeting times yet. Status update?

Review metadata assertion PR #11: Update to reference C2PA 2.3 and CAWG identity 1.2

ACTION (βœ…): Eric to merge PR.

Review metadata assertion PR #12: Add section on referencing the named actor from an identity assertion

ACTION: Eric to revise PR per feedback received after the meeting. New section to be added similar to existing section 5 to describe how to represent multiple representations of the same entity (i.e. human readable vs URI).

Phillippe shared this later in the meeting:

In Dublin Core, you can express multiple contributors by repeating the dc:contributor element for each individual or organization, or by separating them with a semicolon within a single field. As dc:contributor is a repeatable element, this allows for the inclusion of multiple contributors, such as editors, translators, or illustrators, in addition to the primary creator. See 4.8 Creator and 4.10 Contributor here: https://www.dublincore.org/specifications/dublin-core/usageguide/elements/

Metadata assertion spec ready to finalize?

πŸŽ₯ 22'20": Based on above PRs, are we ready for working group approval on metadata assertion 1.2?

OUTCOME: Not ready.

Review identity assertion PR #251: Add network traffic policy

ACTION: Eric and Peleus to revise wording to differentiate between transient failure and configuration/policy prohibition on the validator.

Review identity assertion PR #254: Move VC to Β§8.3 and change section title

ACTION (βœ…): Eric to merge PR.

Review identity assertion PR #255: Rework W3C VC introductory section

ACTION (βœ…): Eric to publish rendered version of this PR for further review. Please see https://cawg.io/identity/1.3-draft+vc-vp+new-introduction/#_w3c_verifiable_credentials.

Better assistance for users / implementers

πŸŽ₯ 41'42": Discussion about how CAWG could do a better job of presenting its work to potential users. As an example, the IPTC has a technical work group and separately a user outreach and education work group.

Also raised is having a set of interoperability test suites.

Continue discussion in next meeting.
